Abstract:The research results of action mechanism and numerical simulation methods of soil
structures and slopes in China were reviewed and discussed. The main contents include
characteristics of temporal and spatial progress of working state and deformation of soil
structures, failure mechanism and numerical simulation methods, contact properties of soil-
structure interface and contact analysis of multi-body, and stability analysis and safety
assessment of soil slopes and retaining structures. Some new numerical methods and the application
to geotechnical analyses were introduced emphatically.
