Abstract:To clarify the development process and status of concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) arch support, the status and existing problems of conventional U-steel arch support are analyzed firstly; and secondly, the development present situation is analyzed and expounded in detail from the aspect of basic principle, field practice, mechanical test, numerical simulation and theoretical calculation, respectively; finally the development situation, advantages, current theoretical problems, technical problems, and the future research focus of CFST arch support are summarized. The main conclusions are as follows: (1) Taking the year 2000 as the cut-off point, the SFST arch support technology development can be divided into tentative practice exploration phase and research & application phase and it develops quickly in the past ten years with good economic benefit. (2) Based on the thousands of CFST arch and member tests, the macroscopic load-bearing characteristics is preliminary grasped, but the bearing failure mechanism is yet to be further studied to form the unified test specification. (3) The axial bearing criterion used in the CFST arch bearing capacity calculation method can not satisfy the accuracy requirement. (4) Because of the theory problems such as arch-surrounding rock interaction and some key technical problems, the design theory of CFST arch support system is not perfect, so the design and construction is still mainly based on experience.
