RC frame structures during earthquake

Abstract:Collision between adjacent buildings can be referred as a lateral collision for the distance between adjacent buildings failing to satisfy the demand of relative displacement under earthquake. Dynamic equations of adjacent RC frame structures considering pounding get derived with Hertz-damp model. The collision progress of adjacent reinforced concrete(RC) frame structures is simulated. Seismic collision damage mechanism of the adjacent RC frame structures is explained by analyzing the collision process and the changing process of beam-column elements damage index during earthquake. It is pointed out that the collision damage incomplete decreased with increasing of the seismic joint width.
