Abstract:The pounding of adjacent structures caused by the earthquake may cause local destruction or collapse of structures, resulting in casualties and property loss. In this study, the pounding mechanical models of adjacent structure can be divided into classical pounding model, pounding force model of contact element method and finite element pounding model, and the research status for these models are introduced, respectively. The influences of design parameters of adjacent structures on the structural pounding response are discussed thoroughly, and the influence of the minimum seismic joints width on the adjacent structures and the calculation method of the seismic joints are summarized. The research on the pounding prevention of adjacent structures is carried out, and the open problems in the pounding research of adjacent structures are analyzed. Furthermore, the direction for the future research is proposed.
