Numerical analysis of influence of the underground structure on seepage

Hydrostatic pressure is usually used for anti-floating design of the underground structure. The anti-floating design of the underground structures are usually depends on the finite element method when seepage is considered. A simplified method is needed for engineers to design the anti-floating capacity of the underground structure. The seepage field will be influenced by the underground which makes the design even harder. Numerical analysis is carried out to investigate the influence of the geometry and embedded depth of underground structures on the water head height around the structures in layered soil. Then, simplified equations are proposed to modified the hydrostatic water head height around the structure based on the numerical analysis results.
