Abstract:The dynamic behaviors of CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer/Plastic) cable and its anchoring system under transverse impact load were investigated by testing the embossing CFRP specimens with the diameter of 9.8mm and the anchorage assembly grouted by the RPC (Reactive Powder Concrete) using the drop hammer impact tester. Under different impact energy, the impact force of hammer head, time-history curve of cable force and failure pattern of reinforced material were tested, and then the impact force-displacement curves and the energy absorption-displacement curves were calculated based on the measured results. The results show that the typical failure patterns of CFRP cable and anchorage assembly include the slippage of reinforced material, delamination of matrix material and breakage of fibers, and their corresponding transverse impact resistance were 12.26kN, 20.77kN and 17.4kN, respectively. When subjected to multiple impacts, the energy dissipation capacity of specimens may decrease gradually. The bonding mechanism of CFRP tendon and RPC under dynamic loading differs from that under static action, which definitely deserves further investigations.
