Abstract:The cast modular joint with outer stiffener of steel rectangular hollow section (RHS) column to H-shaped beam frame was conceptually designed. The full-scale cyclic test was carried out on the innovative joint, considering the effect of different axial load ratios of column on the seismic performance of joints. Research results show that the proposed cast modular joints with outer stiffener exhibit remarkable ductility, stable and efficient energy dissipation capacity, high bearing capacity and appropriate stiffener, so that the cast modular joint can stabilize the shear plastic energy dissipation in panel zone. Based on the analysis results, it is found that after adequate revision, the current formula for ultimate bearing capacity of panel zone can be applied to the cast modular joint with outer stiffener. By controlling the relative strength between beam and panel zone, the control of yielding sequence of the joint can be realized.
