Abstract:Earthquake disaster scenario simulation is a useful tool to improve the comprehensive capability of urban disaster prevention, and in earthquake disaster scenario simulation, high-fidelity seismic damage visualization of buildings is an important topic. To improve the urban seismic damage visualization of buildings, the easy accessible 3D urban polygonal model is adopted. Powered by the building identification method and floor plan generation method, building geometric data can be acquired automatically. Meanwhile, building displacement interpolation and building remeshing methods are also developed so as to realize high-fidelity seismic damage visualization; furthermore, the methods are used to visualize the seismic results of buildings in the Central Business District (CBD) of Beijing, and the 3D visualization method is significantly more realistic than the existing 2.5D visualization method. The outcome of this research will provide a technical reference for improving emergency preparedness and mitigating possible earthquake-induced losses for high seismic regions and cities.
