Abstract:Four full-scale L-shaped recycled concrete low-rise shear wall specimens were tested under low-cycle repeated loading to study the influences of thermal insulation blocks of expandable polystyrene (EPS), recycled concrete strength and reinforcement ratio. The four specimens, among which three were prepared with thermal insulation blocks of EPS and one was prepared without EPS blocks, were made of recycled concrete. Seismic performance including load-bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility, energy dissipation capacity and damage evolution law of those specimens were investigated and compared. Results show that load-bearing capacity and elastic-plastic deformation capacity of the shear walls can be improved significantly by increasing concrete strength and reinforcement ratio. The low-rise shear walls with thermal insulation blocks of EPS have better seismic performance compared to the wall without thermal insulation blocks.
