Abstract: Due to its hiddenness, vulnerability, closely related to risk, hasn’t received enough attention in the risk analysis of traditional engineering projects. Hence, the concept and connotation of vulnerability of green building (GB) projects was attempted to be defined from the perspective of risk management, and the relationship between vulnerability and risk of GB projects was explored. Firstly, the classical grounded theory was employed to encode the interview data and two core categories of vulnerability and risk in GB projects were summarized and defined. Through in-depth interviews and case studies, the theoretical framework for the relationship between vulnerability and risk was established, the impact of vulnerability on the influence path and mechanism of risk was revealed, and the deficiency in the present researches on the risk management of GB projects could be obviated. The research results may provide a scientific basis for risk management of GB projects.
