Abstract:The existing research of anchorage performance is rare in the fields of FRP anchor embedded in masonry structure. This study focuses on the application and behavior of the FRP anchors embedded in clay brick. The difference of the brick unit is that it has smaller dimensions compared to common concrete specimens. This paper reports an experimental study on FRP anchors under pull-off loading in detail. The experimental results indicate that FRP anchors made from folded pre-immersed FRP sheet can efficiently improve the anchorage performance. The size of the anchor hole has significant influences on the performance of anchorage. Through the analysis of the existing anchorage strength model of concrete and the present test on brick, it has been found that the anchorage strength is dominated by the projected area of the failure body. Based on two concrete anchorage strength models, this paper eventually developed two strength models for FRP anchor embedded into clay brick.
