Abstract:The low-strain integrity test of piles is commonly based on one-dimensional wave propagation theoryIn practice, the waves generated by the hammer impact on the pile head are three-dimensional, because they propagate not only in the vertical direction, but also in the radial direction, so that the plane cross-section assumption may not holdConsequently, the problem of one-dimensional wave propagation shall be regarded as the wave propagation problem in three-dimensional cylinder. In this work, an analytical model for the dynamic response of a pile with its head subjected to the low-strain impact load is presented, considering the propagation of waves in the vertical and radial directions as well as the soil-pile interaction.Furthermore, the analytical solution for the three-dimensional dynamic response of pile in low-strain integrity test is derived, providing new theoretical guidance for the dynamic testing of piles.
