With the aluminum alloy gusset joint of Beijing Daxing International Airport taken as the research object,the experiment and finite element analysis were conducted for its mechanical properties under compressive and bending conditions. The following observations or conclusions were obtained:①Tearing failure occurs at the junction of the web and top flange of the I-shaped member at the restrained side. At the junction,the stress is high and local yielding occurs with plastic hinge formed. Under the action of vertical force,the web may bend which result in tearing failure. ②Three stages can be observed for both the horizontal load-displacement curves and the vertical load-displacement curves of the joint. The stiffness of gusset joint is high in the elastic stage,and good deformation and energy dissipation performance are seen in the yield stage. Two stages can be found for the bending moment-rotation curves,and the rotational stiffness of joint is high in the elastic stage. ③The diameter R of bolt has the greatest influence on the ultimate bearing capacity of joint,while the thickness T of connection plate has the greatest influence on the rotational stiffness of joint. Based on the influences of main parameters on the mechanical properties,the structural parameters of the joint were optimized to improve the material utilization.
