Abstract:To solve the problem of the use of the scarp tire rubber pads (STP) isolation system in the rural buildings, the lack of a post-column STP isolation device is restricted, which limited its popularization and application in the rural buildings. The new shock isolation device under the column of STP can reduce the STP under the compressive stress of 4 MPa, 5 MPa, and 6 MPa for cross-sectional dimensions of 100 mm×100 mm, 140 mm×140 mm, 180 mm×180 mm, and a high of 72 mm. In the low cycle test, the seismic isolation mechanism and hysteretic energy dissipation characteristics of the new seismic isolation device under this column was studied in combination with the seismic isolation mechanism, failure characteristics, bearing capacity attenuation, stiffness degradation, and equivalent damping ratio. The results show that the STP has a stable energy dissipation capacity under different compressive stresses and cross-sectional dimensions in this isolation device; at ±20 mm, the steel wire mesh inside the STP is separated from the rubber by squeezing, and its bearing capacity is more obvious under the design of different parameters; under the cross-sectional size of 140 mm×140 mm and 5 MPa, there is no significant change in hysteretic energy consumption characteristics of the new seismic isolation device. It is recommended to design this parameter as the basic parameters of the new seismic isolation device under the column when designing seismic structures. The research results provide a theoretical reference for the application of the STP isolation system in rural buildings.
