Abstract:The friction pendulum bearing is a common seismic isolation device that separates the foundation from the superstructure and protects the superstructure when an earthquake happens. In order to study the response of friction-pendulum isolated structures under an earthquake, a four-story frame seismic structure and an isolated structure and their corresponding scale models were designed. The dynamic characteristics, displacement response, floor acceleration and isolationstory response of the two structures were investigated. The results show that the friction-pendulum bearing has good seismic isolation ability and can significantly reduce the displacement and acceleration of floors by more than 50%.
