Abstract:Based on the large deflection theory of thin plate, the relationship
between the shear force in steel plate shear wall and the out-of-plane deflection
was derived with the effect of elasto-plastic buckling considered, so that the
out-of-plane deflection when the buckling-restrained steel plate shear wall reaches
its ultimate bearing capacity can be achieved. Substituting the out-of-plane
deflection into the partial differential equation corresponding to the equilibrium
may lead to the calculation formula for the internal forces between inner steel
plate and buckling restrainers. Based on the relevant codes in China, the design
methods for the bearing capacities, such as the overall flexural strength, punching
strength and local compressive strength of buckling restrainer, were proposed.
Additionally, the design formula for connection bolts between inner steel plate and
buckling restrainer was proposed. Eventually, the demand requirement on buckling
restrainers of buckling-restrained steel plate shear wall was experimental
validated.
