Trends and path for development of bamboo structural engineering towards 2035 in China

Abstract:An overview of the worldwide bamboo structural engineering was quantitatively presented through literature. The development difficulties and trends on bamboo structural engineering were analyzed by the questionnaire survey and interview of 50 international and domestic experts. Based on the technology roadmapping, the key techniques and the development path for bamboo structural engineering were studied, and the policy supports for China’s bamboo structural engineering to 2035 were pointed out. To improve the development of bamboo structural engineering in China towards 2035, six aspects of policy supports were summarized as follows: enhancement of the scale and core competitiveness of enterprises, setting up of national key laboratories, establishing of specialized research funds, strengthening of the top-level design for standards of bamboo construction, greatly promoting of demonstration project of bamboo structures and strengthening of international cooperation.
