Abstract:Reinforced concrete coupled shear walls and core tubes have been widely used in multi-story and high-rise structural systems. Based on the previously developed fiber beam-column element including nonlinear shear effects for reinforced concrete coupling beam, a new analysis model is proposed for the coupled wall by combining it with the conventional fiber beam-column element and layered shell element. The model is efficient, accurate and convenient, which is applied in the general finite element package MSC.MARC(2007r1). The proposed coupling beam element, layered shell element and conventional fiber beam-column element were used to model the coupling beam, shear wall and the boundary confining column, respectively. The numerical model for the coupled wall was established and verified by experimental results. Then the model was applied to the seismic analysis of a 31-story high core tube structure. The seismic behavior of coupling beams were intensively analyzed and the model was compared to the model with layered shell element. The proposed analysis model of coupled wall and core tube provides a new tool for the nonlinear analysis of multi-story and high-rise structures based on general finite element software.
