The performance-based seismic design is the development trend of seismic design. The finite element model considering material damage accumulation is conducted. And then the anti-seismic performance of reticulated shells under severe seismic motion is investigated using Incremental Dynamic Analysis method (IDA). The different damage level is divided by structure damage model which is defined using the structural responses. The seismic vulnerability of the graded performance levels and synthesized vulnerability of reticulated shells is conducted by considering the variance of different seismic motions. Finally, this paper defines the performance aim and conducts structural optimal design which lay the foundation for establishing intact performance-based seismic design method of reticulated shells.
