Abstract:In order to investigate the dynamic response and failure mechanism of blind bolted connections in concrete filled double skin steel tubular (CFDST) columns, cruciform specimens representing the internal substructures of a multi-story frame were tested under seismic loads. Through the experimental results, the influence of end plate type, hollow ratio of column and demountable composite floor was analyzed. The dynamic response and failure modes of the test specimens were observed under different earthquake waves. The seismic performances, such as hysteretic behavior, dynamic magnification factor, damping ratio, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation capacity, were explored. The test results show that the blind bolted connections in the CFDST columns have good seismic performance and ductility, so they can be applied in high-rise assembled steel structures located in high-intensity earthquake areas.
