Abstract:The nonuniform distribution of temperature on supertall structures during construction stage leads to nonuniform deformation and stress, which influence the construction quality and safety of supertall structures. This paper investigates the temperature distribution and stress development of in-construction supertall structures by analyzing the monitoring data of a 335 m-high supertall building. The results show that nonuniform temperature distribution and nonuniform temperature variation existed between the outer frame and the inner walls and that between different facades of the supertall structure. The extent of the nonuniformity varies with seasons. Nonuniform temperature distribution results in different stress variation. The vertical stress of the outer column varies with the seasonal change of the temperature. The girder suffers cracking risk under the influence of seasonal temperature variation. The results are advantageous to improve the construction quality and safety of supertall structures.
