Abstract: Pressure measurement tests on 10 2-D square prisms with various corner
treatments were carried out in uniform flow field with low turbulence for the
Reynolds number ranging from Re≈1.0×105 to 4.8×105. Firstly, all 10 models were
categorized according to the variation law of drag coefficient with Reynolds
number, and then the wind pressure distributions for these models were discussed
according to their categories. Influence mechanisms of corner treatments on
aerodynamic behaviors of square prisms were revealed from the perspective of the
variation of flow around the model. The results show that the aerodynamic behaviors
of models with the corner chamfering ratio B/D≤15% and the corner rounding ratio
as R/D≤15% are not affected by the Reynolds number, while the aerodynamic
behaviors of models with R/D≥20% are obviously affected by the Reynolds number.
For the models with R/D=20%、30% and 40%, the Reynolds number corresponding to the
obvious change of wind pressure distributions decrease with the increase of the
corner rounding ratio.
