Abstract:Existing nonlinear analyses methods of power plant structures were reviewed and some problems were identified. By using the finite element software Perform 3D, detailed nonlinear time-history analyses were performed on a steel braced frame power plant structure. Elasto-plastic dynamic responses of the structure under seismic loadings with two different seismic intensities, i.e., design earthquakes and major earthquakes were obtained. Seismic performance of this structure was further investigated and the influence of brace buckling in modeling this braced steel frame power plant structure was discussed based on analysis results.
