Abstract:In recent years, the full glass curtain wall has been widely used in public buildings. The out-of-plane stability of the glass ribs in the full glass curtain wall has been paid more and more attention by the scholars. However, the calculation of the glass ribs’ stability in the current specification is not involved. To solve this problem, 11 groups of specimens without lateral constraint and 10 groups of specimens with lateral constraint were tested and the effect of the glass rib thickness on the stability was considered. The experiment results show that the lateral torsional buckling always happens under the in-plane load, and the curvature is significantly reduced with the increase of the glass rib thickness. The glass panel provides lateral constraint for the long side of the glass ribs, so the buckling critical load of the glass ribs are doubled.
