Experimental study on AQ315 steel under monotonic and cyclic loading

Abstract:To study on the mechanical properties of AQ315,a new kind of steel,experiments under monotonic and cyclic loading were conducted and the failure modes were analyzed. The skeleton curves of AQ315 steel under cyclic loading have been obtained by curve fitting using the Ramberg-Osgood model. Based on the Chaboche plastic constitutive model,the isotropic hardening and kinematic hardening parameters were calibrated according to the test data,and the cyclic loading tests have been simulated using ABAQUS. The results show that the average yield and ultimate strength of AQ315 steel are 290 MPa and 450 MPa,respectively; the average elongation after fracture of AQ315 steel is 35.6%; AQ315 steel exhibits a large degree of cyclic hardening; the Ramberg-Osgood model fits the skeleton curves well under cyclic loading; the finite element results can simulate the hysteretic curves of AQ315 accurately with the calibrated hardening parameters.
