Abstract:A tunnel under construction in Yunnan is located at the border between China and Myanmar whose surrounding rock are mostly mudstone and sandstone, and the groundwater is rich in bicarbonate. Through the long-term monitoring of underground water, infiltration sites in the surface of initial support, outflow solution of the drain pipe and field tests, a preliminary analysis of the scaling and clogging mechanism and treatment methods in this tunnel was carried out, aiming to provide the reference for some similar tunnels. Results show that: the property of groundwater is a vital factor affecting the generation of scaling, especially when the groundwater in tunnel is rich in bicarbonate, a large amount of scaling are more likely to be produced in the tunnel drainpipe; The flow rate of the outflow solution of the drain pipe can affect the concentration of ions in seepage as well as the scaling accumulation ability, which is an important factor affecting the generation of clogging in the drain pipe. Meanwhile, it is an effective way to reduce the contact between groundwater and primary support shotcrete to avoid the chemical reaction between groundwater and cement hydration products. Furthermore, the addition of proper amount of fly ash in shotcrete can also reduce the amount of scaling.
