Abstract:In order to study the uniaxial mechanical properties of silty mudstone affected by temperature and humidity, the temperature cycle tests, the soaking tests and the temperature cycle tests under soaking condition were carried out. Based on the test results, the stress-strain curves of silty mudstone under different temperature and humidity conditions were obtained, and then the variation rules of uniaxial mechanical indexes were analyzed. The test results indicate that the compressive strength of mudstone is positively correlated with the ultrasonic velocity. The pre-peak stress-strain curve of natural silty mudstone meets the characteristics of plastic-elastic-plastic rock. After the temperature cycles, the uniaxial compressive strength, elastic modulus and splitting strength of dry silty mudstone decrease, and the decreasing range is associated with the cycles, direction of temperature shift and temperature difference. After soaking water at a constant temperature, the expansion rate and water content of silty mudstone increase rapidly at the early stage and tend to be gentle at the later stage, the uniaxial compressive strength, elastic modulus and splitting strength of silty mudstone decrease with the increase of water content. The synergistic effects of temperature and humidity on silty mudstone are greater than the sum of the effects of individual temperature and individual humidity. When the silty mudstone are destroyed under uniaxial compression, six kinds of failure modes can be observed according to the failure characteristics, and the occurrence of different failure modes are dependent on water content and tension-compression ratio.
