Study on load scaling relationship in centrifuge test of underwater explosion

Abstract:The prototype test of underwater explosion is restricted by many factors, such as site environment, etc-Centrifuge test of scale model provides a new idea of studying the damage of structures due to underwater explosion. In centrifuge test of scale model, the model is scaled by multiplying the acceleration with a certain magnification factor, and at the same time, the geometric layout of the model is reduced by the corresponding scale to achieve the geometric similarity with the prototype test. In this work, the numerical model of underwater explosion of 80kgTNT is established firstly, and the calculated results are compared with those of the prototype test, so that the reasonable observation point of proportional explosion distance is determined and the reliability of the model is validated. Then, the numerical model of underwater explosion scale test of 1g RDX charge (equivalent to 1.62g TNT charge) under different centrifugal acceleration conditions is established by using the same material parameters and modeling method, and the calculated results are compared with centrifuge test results. Furthermore, the application of similarity ratio to centrifuge scale test of underwater explosion is discussed, and the scaling relationship of different physical quantities in centrifuge test and the influence of additional centrifugal acceleration on dynamic load of underwater explosion in scaling test are studied.
